Will you tell me a story Ponce de Leon?
Did you accomplish all you wanted?
I sought the world too
Our paths from there diverged
I moved on from the place where I first knew your name
Friends came with me for part of the way
In the middle of the journey
Curiosity had me questioning fundamentals
On San Francisco Street we saw the mourners
Gathered in one place moving in a haze
We sat among them, separate still
Anxious to move onward to the canyon
Stopping to reassess what I have garnered
Your old letters I sifted through
To hear about the places you have been
I held your hand trying to divine your thoughts
Questioning the concept of faith
I believe you searched for the wrong grail
Along with your lessons, I have found
Hope is the spring of rebirth
For Poetry Thursday, the assignment was to incorporate the streets names into a poetry journal of our travels. I decided one street would be my inspiration and another a landmark of where I had been.

This is really nice!
(Why 1942?)- now I have to go do some research. . .
Searching for the wrong grail - how desperate, because it leaves no room for hope. But your poem does ! BB
"Questioning the concept of faith

I love that. Haven't we all done that at one time or another? Perhaps more than once! Thanks for sharing that.
Searching for something in old letters, old loves. Hope on yet another new street and new name.
Very thought provoking poem this is.
Side Note: I changed the line containing 1942 as it was a personal reference that did not exactly fit the poem.
Very much in agreement with blackbank-the search for the wrong grail just explodes with meaning. I also like "hope is the Spring of rebirth" This is well written and a great poem-I will return.

I love the whole searching, exploring tone of the poem. Starting it out with Ponce de Leon and the questions feels so perfect. You ask, then you answer and lead us along your journey.
live in Atlanta? or is that a common street name in 'Merica?
