Ice

When I first moved to Boston, I lived in apartment with one of my good friends. The apartment looked over a reservoir. I spent a lot of time studying the reservoir 'cause I had no money to do anything else. I was poor student.

I arrived in Boston on January 1, 1999. The reservoir was frozen solid. Temperatures were between four and ten my entire first week. Over the following months before class, I noticed the ice would move and melt and then refreeze again.

If this sounds a tad boring, give a Georgia girl a break. I had never seen any water so sizable frozen.

I am still fascinated by frozen lakes. A pond not too far from where I live now hosts skaters on the weekends when the temperatures fall and the ice will allow.

For music lovers: check out this site: http://www.hearya.com/2007/02/14/top-100-indie-songs-of-all-time .... Hmmmm. I dispute some of the songs... Thank you Paperback Writer for the link.

You're quite welcome.

I've tried to put you on my Google Reader, but it doesn't really come up. Which is my excuse about why I haven't been by lately. Sorry!

I, too, dispute the list.

Are Indie songs only considered if they are mainstream or top 40-ish?

Where the heck are The Queers? Or Mustard Plug? Gaye Bykers? Dead Milkmen? The Cycle Sluts From Hell?

Now THOSE are INDIE.

My indie knowledge seems to have ended around the mid-nineties. Man do I feel old.

But my verification word was Jimyfez. Great name for some up and coming indie group.

The one for this comment is jibberish.

When I read your writing and looked at your pics, I could so feel the cold and imagined myself sitting there watching this cold body of ice.

Great pics BTW. Definitely include more.

as a southern boy myself, i can tell you it was soooo exciting to move north when i was a teen. snow! ice! no school! i was so excited -- until it snowed 100 inches that year.

wife is from the great white north, and has been ice fishing many times on frozen lakes. global warming has put an end to ice fishing where she's from.

how could anyone put a list of top indie songs and not include black flag? i seriously question this person's credentials.
